A new smartphone application goes beyond your usual call blocker, photo editor, or virtual game. This one actually saves lives.
The new IBG Star Blood Glucose Meter mobile application, developed by iBGstar, is a mobile application that can seamlessly integrate with an iPhone and help those who suffer from diabetes monitor their blood sugar levels anytime, anywhere, using simply their phones. The company behind the modern meter has been focusing their efforts into developing cutting-edge applications that allows for easier management of diabetes especially those with busy lifestyles.
The device, which costs less than a hundred dollars, has yet to gain approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). But the US Government has already passed a bill to create a department solely focused on mobile health and the rise of mobile health applications.
The iBGStar uses the Dynamic Electrochemistry technology to analyze blood samples, and is equipped with a plasma equivalent calibration technology for more accurate readings. The device is combined with the mobile manager, and syncs the data to help someone suffering from diabetes keep track of blood sugar levels in real time, prompting the user, when to adjust his or her insulin. The data can also be shared with a patient’s physician through its connectivity capabilities.
