Cobham SATCOM is paving the road for its new EXPLORER 710 BGAN satellite terminal at the NAB 2013 conference. Slated for a September 2013 release, the Cobham satellite communications product guarantees QoS to deliver the speediest on-demand video streaming through satellite connectivity.
The EXPLORER 710 is the most compact and lightweight Class 1 BGAN terminal in the world. It is also the first platform that comes standard with new high data rate streaming capabilities, as well as new features such as the ability to use Ethernet to bond the signals from multiple terminals. Broadcasters will be able to boost the quality of mobile outside broadcasting with this product.
The Cobham platform allows Smart Phone apps to access BGAN satellite connectivity. With EXPLORER 710, users will be able to connect their own devices for voice calling and satellite Internet connectivity.
EXPLORER 710 will leverage the new high-speed data streaming service that Inmarsat plans to introduce in Q3 2013. The combination promises streaming rates of more than 650kbps straight out of the box.
